From decorating pine trees to gift giving, there are a multitude of traditions that people generally act upon during this time of the year. Plenty of them having their beginnings in the pagan celebration of Yule that would take place centuries ago. My family enjoys celebrating things, and Christmas is no exception. We embark on many traditions both from the general society and of our own. One tradition of ours that we do is buying Christmasy pajamas and save them to be worn on Christmas Eve and Christmas. As far as I know they're ins't a specific story as to how it started, but we do it none the less every year. Another Christmas tradition that I used to do when I was little, was make "reindeer mix" and spread it out in front of our house with my grandma. We would spread the mix out all over the driveway and I would always get so excited Christmas morning when I went outsid...

All I Want for Christmas is its History!

♡₊˚ 🦒・₊✧ Christmas is, personally, my favorite holiday, and with it coming up, I thought it would be nice to look into its history and how it came to be. Originally, before christianity took over the holiday; creating it into what it is known as now; it was called Yule by pagans and was known to be a celebration of the winter solstice. After christianity became established as a religion, christians traveled to Northern Europe ...

Rational Argument: Ideas and Process

πŸ— ☕ πŸ•° πŸ“œ 🎞 πŸ–‹️ Our next essay we will be writing a rational argument. From what I understand it is supposed to be like an expansion on the micro theme. Where in micro themes it was purely speculation, these rational arguments will have evidence to back it up. We need to pick a question to base our rational argument off of and then find evidence to base it off of that argument. So far, I have come up with two possible ideas for what my rational argument may be about. The first one is about people's perceptions of Chicago. Tourists from outside of the Chicagoland area often think of Chicago to be a very dangerous place, but is this really true? Is Chicago any more dangerous than other popular cities like New York or Detroit? For this idea, I would have to look into crime rates in Chicago as well as these other well-known areas. I would also possibly look into the rates at which crime in Chicago is being covered in the news compared to the other places. My next possible idea for wh...
