Chills & Thrills!

With holiday break finally coming up soon, many of us students are going to have a lot of free time on our hands until school begins again. A stark difference from the constant business of college life that us students deal with over the school year. However, other than spending any of the holidays that transpire during this season with family; What other things could be done during this time?

You could start reading those books that you didn't have the time or energy to read before. Or you could learn a new hobby that you have never done before. Maybe even continue performing hobbies that you started prior to. Leisurely activities such as learning a new language, cooking, baking, sewing, and so much more.

I, personally, want to get back into sewing and reading with my new found free-time. I haven't really sewed since before school started and I have so many ideas that I would love to execute. There are also some books that I began reading before the beginning of the year, but never got to finish, until now. What things will you be doing over the holidays?

♡₊˚ 🦢・₊✧ Christmas is, personally, my favorite holiday, and with it coming up, I thought it would be nice to look into its history and how it came to be. Originally, before christianity took over the holiday; creating it into what it is known as now; it was called Yule by pagans and was known to be a celebration of the winter solstice. Although Yule has been transformed a lot over the centuries, many of the traditions  have transitioned themselves into Christmas traditions that we take part in now. Think Pink!!!

 I am a very indecisive person. Often times, having a hard time choosing favorites of things, such as color. Even though I don't have a favorite color, I feel like there is no denying how good of a color pink is. Pink is pretty in all its shades. It can go with any other color flawlessly. On clothes, in rooms, or even with cars, pink is a beautiful and show stopping color.  Some may feel that pink is a girly, and therefore inferior color to others, but I like to think otherwise. Partly because I feel like just because you like a different color, doesn't mean you have to put down other colors. Also because it makes me upset that many things that girls grow up doing, liking, or are pushed onto them are frequently seen automatically as lesser than anything that is seen as masculine. The Rape of Proserpina

✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧   ✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧ This image shows a statue created by medieval Roman artist Bernini; called The Rape of Proserpina . Based on a hymn to Demeter by Homer; A story about Demeter experiencing the loss of her daughter, Persephone, as she is taken from her by Ruler of the Underworld, Hades. Hades, tricking Persephone with a flower that she plucked from the ground making it crumble underneath her, whisks her off in his chariot, taking her to be his bride. This statue shows a point in the story where Hades captures Persephone from her in the meadow. I enjoy looking at Bernini's work, one that I like in particular is based on the myth of Apollo and Daphne. His work is quite beautiful and a lot of it often looks so realistic with all of the details that he takes into account.
